Our English curriculum is designed using high quality texts and supports the children to progressively develop their reading and writing skills. We will be using books such as Quill Soup and Voices in the Park to support writing a range of different genres. Maths is taught daily and incorporates children’s fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills.
Our key topics in Year 3 are the Stone Age, Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Greeks, Romania, the River Thames and Coasts. A range of enrichment opportunities, such as a visit to Headstone Manor Museum and the British Museum, are planned to enhance the learning of these topics. The children will be taught PE by our Sports Coach and will begin their Spanish language journey. Music is an important aspect of our curriculum and the children will continue to learn the recorder with our music specialist. In RE, we will explore the Bible’s big story and focus on the important celebrations of Christmas and Easter. This year the children will gain an understanding of Judaism and Buddhism through our studies of other faiths.
