PSHE
We expect every child to leave our school with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives and contribute positively to society.
Through our PSHE curriculum, we support children in developing a strong sense of self, healthy relationships, and a clear understanding of the world around them. At the heart of this learning are the core values that guide our school community: faith, wisdom, compassion, strength, and hope. These values are woven throughout our teaching, helping pupils grow into thoughtful, resilient, and responsible individuals, ready to meet life’s challenges with confidence and care.
At St John’s, our PSHE bespoke curriculum is designed to ensure board and balanced knowledge, age –appropriate content, be informed by current research and is aligned to our Christian ethos.
Our curriculum is split into three core themes that KS1 and KS2 follow through the year. Each area is revisited to allow children to build on prior learning:
1. Health and wellbeing
2. Relationships
3. Living in the wider world
St Johns our PSHE curriculum provides children with the vocabulary and the confidence needed to clearly articulate their thoughts and feelings in an atmosphere of openness, trust and respect. Pupils are taught to know when and how they can seek support of others. They will apply their understanding of society to their everyday interactions, from the classroom to the wider curriculum.
Our school aims to provide children with skills to build healthy relationships, to evaluate and understand their well-being needs, practice self-care and contribute positively to the well-being of those around them.
